To mark Earth Day, the Hawaiian Electric Companies are releasing their 12th annual Sustainability Report for 2018-19, describing efforts to address climate change, enhance community resilience and sustainability, and move Hawaii closer to 100 percent clean energy by 2045, or sooner.

Arbor Day Tree Giveaway at Hawaii Electric Light

Hawaii Electric Light announces the Arbor Day Tree Giveaway will be held on Saturday, Dec. 13, at its office in Hilo from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or while supplies last. The event was postponed last month due to the unavailability of plants.

All electricity customers will help finance Hawaii's clean energy future

A new line on electric bills starting this month will finance the State of Hawaii Green Energy Market Securitization (GEMS) program. However, a corresponding reduction of the monthly Public Benefits Fund surcharge, collected to pay for the State's conservation and energy efficiency programs, means most customers will likely see little net change on their electric bills.

Alan Oshima named President and CEO of Hawaiian Electric Company

A respected business leader with almost 40 years of energy, regulated utility, legal and community relations experience in Hawaii, Alan Oshima has been named president and chief executive officer of Hawaiian Electric Company, effective Oct. 1, 2014. Oshima will succeed Dick Rosenblum, who has served in the position since 2009.

Hawaiian Electric Companies submit plans for Hawaii's Energy Future

The Hawaiian Electric Companies today proposed plans for Hawaii’s energy future that will lower electric bills and give customers more service options, nearly triple the amount of distributed solar while achieving the highest level of renewable energy in the nation by 2030.

The Hawaiian Electric Companies contribute $25,000 to Hawaii Island United Way

Hawaii Electric Light, Hawaiian Electric and Maui Electric have collectively contributed $25,000 to the Hawaii Island United Way. In addition, contributions from employees of the three utilities will be matched by the Hawaiian Electric Industries Charitable Foundation, up to a total of $10,000. All funds will be used to support Hawaii Island residents impacted by Tropical Storm Iselle.
